Rock Band 4 standalone game available for pre-order now

Co-publishers Harmonix and Mad Catz have announced that the standalone game for Rock Band 4 is finally available for pre-order now. It will enable owners of the game on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to use their current peripherals and not have to shell out additional money.

Steve Janiak, the Harmonix CEO, stated that “By offering game-only options and supporting seamless compatibility with previous-generation music game controllers, we’re thrilled to be offering the best value for longtime music gaming fans this holiday,” The standalone game will cost the usual $59.99 price on PlayStation 4 but an additional $20 for $79.99 on Xbox One. The reason for the extra cost on Xbox One is due to the difference in USB similar to how Disney Infinity 2.0 required a new character base as PS4 did not. The Xbox One game will come with an adapter that will support up to four peripherals at once for gameplay. PS4 users will see the status quo and play the game just as they did on the PS3 version.

Ten new songs were also announced for the game today, which include

•          Arctic Monkeys – “Arabella”
•          The Both – “Milwaukee”
•          Cake – “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”
•          Little Big Town – “Little White Church”
•          Lucius – “Turn It Around”
•          The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – “The Impression That I Get”
•          The Protomen – “Light Up The Night”
•           Soundgarden – “Superunknown”
•           Tijuana Sweetheart – “Pistol Whipped”

All of the new pre-order information can be found on Rockband's official site as well as from your local retailer. If you still have the old guitars and drumsets lying around, be sure to pick up the standalone game as you'll save yourself a boat load of cash. You will be able to choose from over 60 songs included in the game's launch as well as a library of over 1,500 tunes for purchase from the in game store. Of course, your old Xbox 360 and PS3 songs are eligible to be imported to your Xbox One and PS4 as well.

Rock Band 4 releases on October 6th on Xbox One and PS4.
