Rock Band Blitz release date announced

Rock Band Blitz, Harmonix's new take on the popular franchise, will be arriving in August.

Harmonix today announced the release date for the musical-based game which now allows players to enjoy the music with controller-based gameplay rather than imitation instruments.

Rock Band Blitz will be coming to the PlayStation Network on August 28 for $14.99 and to Xbox LIVE Arcade on August 29 for 1200 Microsoft Points.

The game boasts the "biggest music library in gaming" while supporting full compatibility with the thousands of songs already available in the Rock Band Music Store, as well as tracks exported from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and more. In addition, Rock Band Blitz will ship with more than 20 new songs from today's biggest artists including Fosters the People, Blink 182, and the following songs which were just announced:

  • Avenged Sevenfold – “So Far Away”
  • Fun. ft. Janelle Monáe – “We Are Young”
  • Kool & The Gang – “Jungle Boogie”
  • My Chemical Romance – “Sing”

If you prefer to play with the imitation plastic instruments, Rock Band Blitz's songs are also compatible and playable in Rock Band 3 meaning you can fake play with the plastic guitar or one of the other instruments offered.
