Rock Band, Dance Central developer Harmonix hit with a ‘small number’ of layoffs

Lost in the commotion of yesterday’s Pizza Hut-Xbox360 partnership and today’s Microsoft’s next-generation console date unveil, it was announced that a “small number” of Harmonix employees were let go from the company’s headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

"We can confirm that a small number of Harmonix employees were let go today," a Harmonix spokesperson said. "This decision was made due to shifting staffing priorities for Harmonix's multiple future projects."

The decision comes on the heels of a company restructure last month after venture capital firm The Foundry Group managing director Brad Feld joined Harmonix and announced that the developer is currenting in development on "new generation of games that transform the way humans and computers interact."

We here at GameZone would like to wish the best to those affected by these layoffs. Harmonix has always been filled with talented folks, and we’re certain these employees will land back on their feet quickly.
