Rock Band developer Harmonix announcing new game later this year

Acclaimed indie studio turns to new funding platform Fig for new game

Last month, industry veteran Brian Fargo (inXile, Wasteland 2) unveiled Fig, a new funding platform that brings together rewards-based crowdfunding and investing "to create a more balanced and sustainable approach to game development."

To date, only one game, Outer Wilds (from Mobius Digital), is running a game on Fig; but, that number will be growing soon. Indie developer Harmonix announced today plans to bring an unannounced title later this year to Fig.

“Harmonix has successfully gone the traditional crowdfunding route before, and now we are looking to explore offering both rewards as well as investment opportunities to the community when we launch our next title via Fig in Q4 of 2015. I’m looking forward to sharing more information with everyone very soon,” said Harmonix CCO Alex Rigopulos.

One of the world's most acclaimed indie development studios, Harmonix is best known for its genre-defining blockbuster franchises Rock Band and Dance Central. Given their experience in blending music with video games, it's possible their new title could do something similar on Fig. And by supporting it, you could be an invenstor.

Details are scarce right now, but we'll be sure to update you with anything new that we find.
