Rock icons Van Halen join Rock Band 4

Like a beloved group reuniting for the first time in years, Harmonix's Rock Band franchise is making a comeback in October. Today they announced legendary group Van Halen is joining this party.

Van Halen's "Panama" will be in Rock Band 4 at launch, with more content coming to the Rock Band Music Store later. This is the group's first appearance in the Rock Band series. They join artists including The Who, Fall Out Boy and the Black Keys for this reunion tour.

Music games were one of the hottest genres in the industry. They cooled off after publishers released too many games too fast, with Activision boss Bobby Kotick admitting the titles had stopped being innovative. In 2015, we'll see both Rock Band and Guitar Hero return and hopefully reinvigorate the genre. Rock Band 4 will include a new Freestyle Guitar Solo feature that will allow players to craft their own original compositions.

Rock Band 4 releases October 6, 2015 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
