Rocket League is overheating and crashing PS4 consoles

Rocket League launched on PS4 yesterday and was the victim of the usual overloaded servers due to the amount of people excited to try out the game. Unfortunately, this was not the ony reported issue. A number of players are reporting that the game's menu screen is causing the PS4 to overheat due to the system's fans operating harder and faster than normal. The console's fan continued to run at this speed until many of the PS4s themselves were crashing ddue to the high temperatures inside the unit.

The developers are aware of the issue and are currently working in fixing the issue as soon as possible according to their official Reddit page. Rocket League, on top of being a fun game, is experiencing server backlog mainly due to its rare capability of allowing PS4/PC cross play as well. Picture Twisted Metal meets FIFA Soccer and that's exactly what Rocket League is. The team at Psyonix is hard at work on fixing the issue and we'll let you know of any updates as soon as they're available.
