Developer Psyonix revealed today Rocket League's next batch of downloadable content — "Chaos Run." Thematically inspired by "films and literature set in grim, post-apocalyptic futures," Chaos Run is like something straight out of Fallout or Mad Max.
The new DLC will include two additional Battle-Cars (Ripper and Grog), 12 new Decals (six for each new vehicle), and several new Paint Types, Wheels, Rocket Trailers, Toppers, and Antennas — all inspired by a post-apocalyptic future.
The highlight of the new content, however, is a brand new free arena, dubbed "Wasteland." Based on the popular map found in Rocket League's predecessor, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Wasteland is the first "non-standard" arena to be added to the game. While Rocket League has seen a number of new arenas added since its July launch, they're all based identical in terms of layout. Wasteland changes things up, featuring a completely-sloped perimeter, different Boost placements, and a much more prominent, physicall-wider pitch. With players accustomed to the current map design, it'll be interesting to see how the game's strategies change with this new map.
As a reminder, the Wasteland map will be free; however, the rest of the following content is only available to those who purchase the $3.99 Chaos Run pack.
Chaos Run will be available this December. Also arriving in December is a free mutator that'll turn the cars-meets-soccer game into cars-meets-hockey.
