D3Publisher producer Joe Fletcher took to Marvel.com to announce and discuss the newest addition to the character roster of Marvel Puzzle Quest: Rocket and Groot.
Two of the first cosmic characters to come to MPQ, Rocket and Groot act as one and are both considered a single character. But Fletcher said where Rocket and Groot go, so does the party. So Gamora is coming next as a reward in run #2 of the upcoming episode "Meet Rocket & Groot."
Here are Rocket and Groot's abilities:
- I Am Groot (Yellow Passive) – a powerful healing ability. At low health, the team can match up Yellow AP, which then destroys Team-Up AP on the board and heals up Rocket and Groot. At max level with an average board (9 Team-Up tiles), they can bring themselves back to full health from 25%.
- Blammo! We Got Ya! (Green) – Rocket and Groot team up for a board smashing attack that deals damage for each tile destroyed, along with cascades it will create. Low levels it destroys the core of the board with Groot's punch and a few tiles with Rocket's fire for each two Green AP the team has. Later, it increases the carnage in the center of the board and starts affecting different types of special tiles.
- I Got a Plan (Blue) – Places a Countdown tile on the board. When activated, it pushes Strike tiles onto the board. Higher levels increase the number and quality of Strike tiles. Max level, a single use of this beats out Sentry's Strike tile contribution.
Gamora, on the other hand, will be a pure damage dealer with Green, Red and Black abilities. Green stuns two enemies and then throws them into the third; Red is a low AP single-target ability to use multiple times during a match and goes well with Strike tiles; Black creates Strike tiles on the board with more generated when she has more tiles bearing her icon.
Rocket and Groot will be available as a reward for "Thick as Thieves", starting on November 19. Then you'll get "Meet Rocket and Groot" starting on November 26.
