Rockstar Games has been actively supporting Grand Theft Auto V for the better part of a decade. Every year, we think “Oh, this is when they’re going to slow down” so they can focus on other things like Red Dead Redemption 2 but they have yet to stop supporting the crime epic.
Rockstar is now teasing the return of the beloved heists. The open-world developer has made two different sets of heists with the original five in 2015 and The Doomsday Heist update in 2017 and now, it appears we’re getting one more. Earlier this year, Grand Theft Auto V’s long-dormant casino finally opened its doors to players with a host of new activities both legal and illegal.
Now, it looks like plans are being put in play to rob the casino itself. Rockstar teased the GTA 5 update via a teaser video on Twitter that looks like a normal promo for the gambling haven spliced with hidden messages such as Lester hacking. If it still wasn’t clear, the words “Score big in Los Santos. Experience inspiration” briefly change to “Score big in Los Santos. Experience infiltration.”
Players are also reporting that they’re getting in-game text messages from the Cheng crime family that read: “We don’t blame you. Revenge will be sweet. Cheng family holdings.”
A while back, players discovered scrapped single player heists for GTA 5 which were possibly planned for DLC including one where you robbed the casino. It seems Rockstar has been repurposing as much of the canceled single-player content as possible for use in the incredibly successful online mode. Will we see some familiar faces like Trevor return for the new heists as he did in 2015? It remains to be seen.
Rockstar doesn’t like to tease for too long so we should see an official announcement before the end of 2019.
Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
