Rockstar Games’ Midnight Club remaster/reboot leaks online

Before Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar churned out games fairly often. In the PS2 era they had games like Manhunt, Bully, and Grand Theft Auto, they also had a fairly big racing franchise by the name of Midnight Club. The series largely inspired by Need for Speed saw players racing through large and iconic cities in fast cars while also getting the chance to roam the cities on their own. The series took people across the globe from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

Midnight Club died off during the Xbox 360 era after the release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The series never had a formal send off and Rockstar never officially canned it altogether but it clearly took a backseat so they could make time for games like Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, and of course, Grand Theft Auto V.

Now, it appears the street racing series is making a return in the form of a remaster or reboot. A Reddit user spotted screenshots of an Xbox One player playing an all-new version of Midnight Club which is pretty strange since there's been no official announcement. Usually, developers play these games offline on debug units so that games don't get seen by the public eye. For some reason, one user was playing on a retail unit or was connected to Xbox LIVE. There's not a lot of details right now but it is definitely real as there's an icon for the game that can be viewed via an Xbox LIVE page.

The game looks to feature a recent or the current Mustang model on the game's start screen which leads us to believe it may be a straight up remake instead of a remaster of the original game. There's no word as to when this will be officially announced or even released but we expect to hear something fairly soon.

Rockstar Games is already hard at work on Red Dead Redemption 2 which is scheduled to release in early 2018 and most likely Grand Theft Auto VI but it has yet to be announced. There have also been rumors circulating for months that a remaster of L.A. Noire is on the way for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 but we have no word as to if that's actually true.
