Rockstar investigating GTA Online problems with Xbox One, PS4 account transfers

Rockstar has announced that a new update is rolling out for Grand Theft Auto 5 which should address the issues with account transferring on PS4 and PS3. Xbox users will have to wait until tomorrow.

In addition to the issues preventing some PlayStation 4 players from downloading the GTA Online day-one patch, it appears that a number of users are also experiencing problems with GTA Online's account transferring. Unlike the other issue, this seems to be affecting both Xbox One and PS4 players.

Over on the Rockstar Support page, the following question was posted:

I haven’t played GTA Online since 2013. When I try to transfer to PS4 or Xbox One, it says “No previous Grand theft Auto Online data is associated with your Social Club account.” I then tried to go back and play GTA Online on PS3 or Xbox 360 to verify, but it says the Rockstar services are unavailable. Help!

Developer Rockstar Games is aware of the problem and looking into the issue, even explaining that it appears to be related to accounts that haven't played GTA Online since 2013.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released today for Xbox One and PS4. Prior to today's release, Rockstar warned that issues may arise. "We have, of course, tested the game extensively but there is no way our several hundred testers can be quite as comprehensive as millions of players! Please bear with us should any issues arise – we will be working hard to fix any problems that arise, and generally ensure this launch is as smooth as possible," the developer said last week.
