When L.A. Noire hit store shelves last year, three groups of perspectives seemed to form: Those who absolutely loved the game, those who absolutely hated it, and some who saw it as a bland game with groundbreaking facial technology. Nevertheless, Rockstar's detective hit shipped millions, but the publisher is still uncertain if there will be a sequel in the future.
During a recently published Q&A on its website, Rockstar revealed that L.A. Noire would not feature any further add-ons. In addition, they added that a new game in these series is a giant question mark at the moment:
"While there won’t be any more DLC or additional content for the current release of L.A. Noire (we’re all too busy working on Max Payne 3, GTA V and other games to come), don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future," the company said. "We simply have not decided anything.
"We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series. We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually – see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that – we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing."
It's safe to say that the series has enormous potential. In all honesty, the detective gameplay, compared to the action sequences, seemed monotonous and unsatisfying. With some tweaks and new features, a sequel could cement the series as a major, triple-A franchise. Do you want another L.A. Noire? Let us know by commenting below.
