Rockstar Games Announces 2nd Annual Rockstar Upload Media Contest

ROCKSTAR GAMES ANNOUNCES THE 2ND ANNUAL
ROCKSTAR GAMES UPLOAD ONLINE MEDIA AWARDS CONTEST

Supporting The Celebration Of The Fine
Arts With Cold Hard Cash

NEW YORK, NY – May 16, 2002 — Rockstar Games
is pleased to announce the return of the Rockstar Games Upload online media
awards to celebrate independent artistic endeavors on the Internet. In 2001,
Rockstar hosted what was considered to be the first strictly online media awards
program where an astounding collection of imaginative contest entries were sent
in via the Rockstar FTP site. Judging for the contest and the awards ceremony
took place entirely online, making for a completely digital experience.

To continue in the footsteps of last year,
all of the original categories are back. New to this year’s contest will be the
inclusion of the Multimedia category. This introduces a new area of competition
in the field of web design, including Flash movies, Director movies and
interactive artwork.

The contest has several categories to
participate in including:

* Multimedia: Entries for this category can
be up to 5 minutes long but no larger than 5MB. Acceptable formats include Flash
and Director. Cash prize: $1,500.00

* Short Subject Film: Films will be accepted
that range between 3 and 30 minutes. Acceptable formats include MPEG and
Quicktime. Cash prize: $5,000.00

* DJ Mix: Mixes between 30 and 60 minutes
will be accepted in .mp3, .wav and .asf formats. Cash prize: $2,000.00

* Short Story: Entries can be between 400 and
2,500 words. Acceptable formats include Word, Acrobat Reader, or html. Cash
prize: $1,500.00

Contest Rules:

* No mailed-in videotapes or CD’s are
eligible for consideration, all entries must be sent via the secure Rockstar FTP
site.

* Submission deadline is July 1, 2002.

* Awards announcement will be in September,
2002.

First round and semi-finalist judging will be
handled by the impossibly glamorous Rockstar Judging Panel. Assembled to include
some of the world’s most renowned filmmakers, DJs, writers and designers
including Res’ Jonathan Wells, Praystation’s Jonathan Davis, and Rockstar’s own
Terry Donovan.

Finalists will be selected by specific
category sponsors including the Independent Feature Project, Flyer Magazine,
Vice Magazine and DesignisKinky.net. The winner of each section will have
his/her work posted/streamed from the heavily trafficked, Milia d’Or award
winning Rockstar Games website (
www.rockstargames.com).

"The success of last years contest was
tremendous and we look forward to holding this competition as an annual event,"
stated Terry Donovan, Vice President of Rockstar Games. "Rockstar Games takes
pride in supporting and giving an open forum for the creative visions our fans
have."
