Rogue-like space shooter, Everspace officially releases into Early Access

Early Access is such a tricky thing, but if you've got a solid plan and a legit product, it can do wonders for games that demos of the 90's and early 2000's can only dream of. That's what looks like is happening with Everspace, a buttery smooth space shooter built with the same philosophies as Faster Than Light. As you go through the game, you travel from jump point to jump point, with each area throwing something different at you (hence the rogue-like), making each playthrough a different experience.

After a massively successful Kickstarter campaign, Everspace has launched into Early Access on Steam and Games in Development on GOG.com a whole month earlier than expected. The game will release on Xbox One's Game Preview program later this month at an unspecified date as well.

Rockfish Games' CEO and co-founder, Michael Schade said:

"We have been working closely with our fans since our Kickstarter in August 2015 and we are super excited to eventually launch EVERSPACE through Steam and GOG.com.
It comes with over 300 new features, tweaks and bug fixes, largely based on community feedback since the initial Alpha release and we look forward to keep working closely with our fans to make EVERSPACE as exciting and long-lasting as we can."
The Early Access launch version of the game comes with an all-new boss fight, new voice-acted dialogue, a different planet type, additional Outlaw stations and a ton of interface and gameplay tweaks that have come as a result of fan feedback from over 10,000 Alpha and Beta backers.

Rockfish plans to add additional content over the coming months as the game progresses. Here's a list of what is planned ahead of the game's full launch.

  • Two additional player ships with different capabilities and starting gear
  • Dynamic cockpit displays for all player ships
  • A captivating non-linear fully voice-acted story featuring interesting and thoughtfully designed characters
  • Hardcore Mode with permadeath for die-hard roguelike fans
  • VR-Support for oculus Rift and HTC Vive

Everspace will release in full on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC at the end of Q1 2017, and will increase in price when that happens from its current cost of $29.99 to $39.99.
