Roguelike sensation sequel Rogue Legacy 2 comes this Summer

One of the biggest success stories from the early days of the indie revolution from the past decade is finally getting a long due sequel. Rogue Legacy 2 is set to launch this summer on PC via Steam and aims to bring more of the awesomely inventive roguelike platformer to gamers.

Indie developer Cellar Door Games has delighted fans of addictive roguelikes with the news of the long-awaited sequel to their breakout hit Rogue Legacy. When the cute yet brutal platformer originally came out way back in 2013, the indie scene was just getting a proper major player in the gaming scene. It was titles like Rogue Legacy and others who proved early on that indie developers can easily stand toe to toe with major game studios when it comes to quality.

Rogue Legacy 2 is a genealogical Rogue-LITE. That means it has all the trappings of a typical rogue-like (randomized runs, changing characters, and more), but with persistent upgrades, and persistent dead heirs. In this game, the grind is optional. Play well and you can dive deeper into the depths of the ever-changing world. Or don’t! Who cares! With hardcore platforming mixed with a deep RPG system, everyone can win eventually.

Despite its huge success, it took seven years for a sequel to materialize, but thankfully the wait won’t be much longer. The developers are aiming to release Rogue Legacy 2 for PC sometime this summer. Seeing how the original got ported to pretty much every console, we expect it to hit consoles not too far off as well.
