Development on the Han Solo film is ongoing, and in what feels like some unofficially official advertising on the part of Director Ron Howard, we have our first look at an Imperial presence that should prove to play a significant role. Howard posted a set photo to Twitter alongside the tease “The Empire Looms Large,” which has since been retweeted over 1,800 times as of this writing.
Here’s the tweet:
It’s not entirely clear what the set itself is, though a reasonable guess could be a Death Star terminal, particularly in reference to the “Looms Large” description. The helmet sitting upon it looks a lot like the one these guys wear.
Ron Howard took over the helm of the Han Solo film after a pretty bizarre public falling out between the directors and the studio, namely over “creative differences.” The directors had allegedly crafted a “zanier” take on Han Solo’s character, which didn’t sit well with upper-level management despite rumors of a sizzle reel that got feedback to the contrary. There was also some additional fallout between an Editor being let go and an acting coach being hired for lead Alden Ehrenreich.
All things considered, the Han Solo movie, which is still without an official title, is on track to release next year on May 25th, 2018.
