Ronda Rousey to remain on cover of EA Sports UFC 2 despite loss to Holm

Ronda Rousey will remain on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2, despite suffering the first loss of her career just a day after the cover reveal announcement.

Rousey was knocked out in the second round of UFC 193 by a left kick to the head/neck area from former professional world boxing champion (and now UFC Women's Bantamweight Title Holder) Holly Holm. It was Rousey's first career loss in UFC, ending her remarkable 12-0 run.

Despite all of her accomplishments to date, I suppose the one loss had a few morons questioning her legitamacy and whether or not she still deserved a spot on the cover. Well, Electronic Arts spokesman Brad Hilderbrand put a quick end to that speculation, confirming on Monday (via ESPN) that Rousey will still grace the cover alongside a yet-to-be-announced male fighter.

On Sunday morning, EA Sports president Peter Moore weighed in on Saturday's shocking upset.

I don't know why some people would call for Rousey's removal from the game's cover. Her one sole loss doesn't take anything away from the amazing career she's had thus far or all she's done for women in sports.
