Variety reports that UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is going to star in MGM’s reboot of the 1980 classic, “Road House.”
The original “Road House” was released way back in 1989 and the film starred Patrick Swayze as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce. The movie soon became one of the most iconic movies of its time.
When approached for the role Rousey embraced the idea. She wanted to do the movie, but only with Swayze’s widowed wifes blessing. Sources say Rousey reached out to Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing, which Niemi gladly gave.
This isn't Rousey’s first movie either, the UFC fighter has a pretty packed schedule from upcoming projects like her biopic “My Fight/Your Fight” at Paramount, “The Athena Project” at Warner Bros. and the STX action pic “Mile 22,” while more recently making cameos in movies like “Furious 7”, “Entourage” and “The Expendables 3.” Rousey’s next fight will be against Holly Holm on Nov. 14.
"Road House" is currently set to start production in 2016, while MGM is currently meeting with screenwriters to write the movie. So how do you guys feel about Rousey being cast into the "Road House" reboot? Let us know in the comments below!
