Rule Westeros with Game of Thrones Ascent now on Kongregate

If you love yourself some Game of Thrones, read the books, religiously watch the show, or simply passionately hate Joffrey – you may want to check out Game of Thrones Ascent. In Ascent, you’ll play through the first two seasons of the show and then each week get updated with new missions from the latest third season. Each week there will be brand new content to keep the engagement level high.  The beta has been live on Facebook for over a month and now it also lives on Kongregate. So if you’re one of those people who absolutely refuses to play Facebook games (trust me, I get it), now you can enjoy Ascent in a completely different place.

In Game of Thrones Ascent you play the role as a noble in one of the big player houses in Westeros. As you performa missions, you’ll gain levels and talents. Customize your noble to fit your play style – warmongering, trade heavy, or spies upon spies. Each are legitimate and get the job done when defending yourself of attacking AI/other players. Are your friends really your friends, or are they just waiting to back stab you? Do you marry and send your children away for alliance purposes?  It’s all your call.

“The open beta launch of Game of Thrones Ascent has gone extremely well on Facebook, with around 500,000 installs in less than two months,” said Jon Radoff, CEO and Founder of Disruptor Beam. “We’ve listened to player feedback and recognize that many Game of Thrones and strategy game fans are looking to play beyond Facebook, so we are very excited to provide yet another way to enjoy our game.”

This is where Kongregate comes to play. Kongregate is a website that hosts many upon many games where you can make one account and play them all. Ascent has microtransactions, but it's nothing game-breaking if you’re patient. Check out which ever interests you the most and screw your friends over in cunning ways! Did I mention it’s free?

Here are some of the key features found in the game:

  • Rule your own noble house! Upgrade your holdings over time. Build your keep, your lands and your forces.
  • Become the most powerful noble in Westeros! Choose your path to success through battle, intrigue or trade. Watch your Power rank increase as you take actions in game.
  • Become a bannerman to one of the Great Houses! Choose your loyalties among Stark, Lannister, Baratheon, Greyjoy or Targaryen.
  • Customize your character. Select your lineage and alignment. Create your own family banner.
  • Build and acquire resources.  Send your Sworn Swords on quests and adventures, involving your house in familiar events across Westeros while gaining wealth and Power.
  • Work with (and sometimes against) your friends. Take part in interactive player-vs-player action, overcoming major challenges and adversaries.
  • Play alongside the Season 3 storyline! With each new TV episode of Game of Thrones, new quests, in-game items and more are added to the game.
