Rumor: Batman trilogy director Christopher Nolan involved in live-action Akira

The tale of the live-action adaptation of Akira is a short one, it's been held prisoner at Warner Bros. for quite a while with tons of different names attached to it over its lifetime. It looks like the film might be back on, this time with Christopher Nolan somehow being involved.

Rumor has it that Warner Bros. is looking to make a three-part film series for Akira, you know, to successfully milk the potential cash cow for all its worth with Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way behind it.

As for who would be writing the film's script, all signs point to the Sons of Anarchy writer and Daredevil co-showrunner Marco J. Ramirez.

While this is all pretty much speculation (I won't believe anything until Warner Bros. says it), there's an interesting twist. Warner Bros. has recently dated an unnamed Nolan film for a July 2017 release, but unless Akira ramps up production and starts filming by the of middle of 2016, there's no way it could be Akira. Ultimately, this will be a wait-and-see scenario, but of all directors… Seeing Nolan's name attached to Akira isn't so bad. It's better than the explosion heavy Michael Bay and weird filters from Zack Snyder.
