It looks as though sources have confirmed that the Call of Duty franchise will be abandoning the future and going back in time! Sources close to Eurogamer have confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: WW2.
On top of that, a known industry insider, Shinobi602, has confirmed that the WW2 setting rumors have been accurate.
Last week a promotional image for the next Call of Duty leaked, suggesting a World War 2 themed entry to the established series. The leak came from an individual behind some of last year's Infinity Warfare leaks, which added some credence to the rumor.
Ahead of this rumor, Sledgehammer Games dropped some serious hints that Call of Duty would be going back in time. Around the holidays, the developers posted an image of an M1911, a standard U.S. service pistol in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.
With Black Ops covering Vietnam and Battlefield hogging World War 1, it makes sense that Call of Duty would target World War II.
