Rumor: EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Episode IX, and more get leaked details

Take it with a grain of salt.

Since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars back in 2013, they’ve made lots of moves to bring the iconic franchise to every possible person via ever medium. Games, movies, shows, books, tie-ins with fruits… they’ve got all bases covered.

2015 marked the beginning of a new era of Star Wars films with the first part of a trilogy marking the end of the Skywalker saga and also the release of EA’s first new Star Wars game as sole distributors of the brand in the video game market. Since then, we’ve had three Star Wars films and one new game from EA.

Next year, we’ll be getting lots more Star Wars with the finale of the Skywalker saga via Episode IX, a new game titled Jedi: Fallen Order from Titanfall developer Respawn, and a new TV show called The Mandalorian. While we know all these things are coming, details surrounding them are mostly unknown.

An anonymous Reddit user who claims to have been at a Disney marketing meeting where they discussed plans for Star Wars in 2019 has shared some alleged details of what these exciting new entries in the Star Wars mythos have to offer. It all seems fairly believable as there’s nothing too crazy or any significant plot details regarding any of these things but it gives some interesting insight into what 2019 has in store for Star Wars fans.

First things first, Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order which is reportedly scheduled for November 2019 (lines up with the holiday 2019 window given at E3). The game takes place five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the Jedi have fallen. You play as a man named Cal, a padawan who survived the Jedi genocide that was Order 66. No gameplay details were specifically noted but other story details revolve around the inclusion of some characters from the Star Wars comics.

Episode IX had no real plot details outside of it being about a battle between Kylo Ren and Rey was shared here but they showed artwork which revealed that Kylo Ren has his mask back. Ren destroyed his signature helmet in a fit of rage in The Last Jedi, shattering it into multiple pieces but he has pieced it back together with a red adhesive which supposedly looks “kinda cool”.

Rey’s lightsaber has been reforged after also being destroyed but happens off-screen as Episode IX takes place one year after The Last Jedi. There’s also a new droid named Dio that acts a side-kick to BB-8, many Reddit commenters wondered if this was the same droid seen in Battlefront II’s campaign. There will also supposedly be new planets including one with a jungle terrain.

Finally, we have details for The Mandalorian, Disney’s show which will air exclusively on their streaming service. The show revolves around a Mandalorian bounty hunter who is sent to kill a baby but ends up saving it and raising it as his own, caring for it and protecting it over the years. The show will show their relationship grow and the lengths he goes to keep it safe. The Mandalorian armor will also change and be upgraded over the course of the show.

Director Jon Favreau also noted he was excited as they were delving deeper into the expanded universe for this show, so that should be exciting news for fans of the books and comics.

The Reddit user also talked a bit about the upcoming Disney theme park expansion which you can read in their full post. While it’s not a lot, it’s certainly something to hold us over until we get more details likely at Star Wars Celebration this spring!

As of right now, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is slated for holiday 2019, Star Wars Episode IX will hit on December 20th, 2019, and The Mandalorian has no release window at this time.
