Rumor: Far Cry 5 to be a Spaghetti Western; Releasing this Fall

Over the last two weeks, mentions of Far Cry 5 have doubled. The game is apparently currently in development and already has its pre-order cards being printed out. New details on what Far Cry 5 might be based on have surfaced, thanks to a Montana-based news site that came across a filming crew.

From the looks of it, Far Cry 5 will be a Western.

Great Falls Tribune (via WCCF) reports that filmmakers working on a promotion for a video game were seen using a "drone that repeatedly flew by the belfry [church tower where bells hang] filming a man fighting with another man near a hanging bell as a train rolled by on the tracks a half-mile away. "

Now, the producer working on the scene didn't specify which game this was for, but he did note it was a sequel. “This is a sequel to an existing global franchise,” said Los Angeles-based Producer Jeff Guillot, the same Jeff Guillot that worked with Ubisoft to produce a live action trailer for Far Cry Primal.

The first thought is that this could be for Red Dead Redemption 2, however, insiders on Neogaf have already alluded to it being Far Cry 5. To top it off, a poll from January 2015 – sent from Ubisoft – asked which setting fans would like to see a Far Cry game set it. The poll included a western setting in America in the late 19th century.
