A rumor is circulating that the upcoming season premiere of 'The Flash' will allow 'Supergirl' to merge with the CW universe.
Its already been announced that CBS' Supergirl has been saved from cancellation thanks to a well-placed cameo appearance by Grant Gustin's Flash. The very well-received guest spot allowed Warner Bros. the see how well the show could do in the context of the CW superheroes, and decided to renew the series for a second season on their network. Considering the only way The Flash was able to make that appearance was due to a tachyon emitter that allowed him to breach multiverse barriers, there's still the question of how 'Supergirl' will fit into its new home.
A rumor is currently circulating that the upcoming season premiere of 'The Flash' will be the solution. Episode one of season three will begin the 'Flashpoint' storyline, an event intended to act as a massive paradigm shift for the universe where shows 'Arrow' and 'Legends of Tomorrow' will be adversely affected in the manner of a big "do-over button". Now it seems that this will also allow the Supergirl-verse to fuse with the already established DC television world. The whole endeavor should make way for the pre-Justice League crossover event scheduled for the middle of all four series' runs. We won't know for sure how this brave new world will play out, however, until the new lineup premieres this October.
