When Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was first announced, it was revealed that it would come with a copy of Modern Warfare Remastered tied to the game. Up until now (and the foreseeable future), Modern Warfare Remastered cannot be accessed without first owning Infinite Warfare.
While the decision frustrated fans, Activision stood by the concept that Modern Warfare Remastered would not see a standalone release – even if some slip ups suggested otherwise.
A GameFly listing has reignited the hope of a standalone release for the game. The game rental subscription service has updated their upcoming games list with two listings of Modern Warfare Remastered – one for the Xbox One and another for the PS4.
The Xbox One version of the game has a release date of July 20th and the PlayStation 4 version is set to release 30 days prior, on June 20th. This falls in line with the partnership that Activision has with PlayStation, which sees all of the DLC hitting the PS4 first.
Activision has not confirmed this, though it should be noted that both release dates come after E3 2017 – which means if it does happen, it will be announced then.
