Rumor: Hitman May Be Up For Grabs But IO Interactive Retains the Rights

Yesterday we learned that Square Enix was selling off IO Interactive, but it seems that the rights to Hitman are going with them.

According to gaming news site Gamestar, an inside source has revealed that even though publishers tend to retain the rights to IPs, Hitman will remain attached to IO Interactive. This comes to the relief of many Hitman fans that were wondering about the fate of their professional assassin.

This also means another publisher most likely bought IO Interactive, although it's not clear who it is.

To further this news, it seems that Season 2 of 2016's Hitman will definitely be arriving, mostly likeily in 2018. Gamestar has said that the origin on the information cannot be revealed at this time, but that they ensure its legitimatesly of the claims. Official comments from IO Interactive are expected next week.
