For years, Warner Bros. has been publishing a series of video games based off of popular brands and IPs with a twist: It’s all Legos! We’ve gotten Lego Harry Potter, Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, and so much more, the series exploded and some of the most popular properties in entertainment have been featured under this Lego banner and in the near future, Disney’s superhero animated film franchise The Incredibles may join the Lego video game series with a Lego version of The Incredibles 2.
This summer, Disney and Pixar will release the long-awaited sequel to their superhero film The Incredibles after seeing them go dormant for over a decade. Fans are eager to see the family of heroes return and it seems Disney wants to capitalize on that as much as possible. According to reputable source Liam Roberston (leaked Mario Rabbids for Switch and the L.A. Noire remaster months before they were announced), WB is planning to publish a Lego tie-in for the film coming this June but no other details are known.
The Incredibles have lived in a playable format before with two video games on PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, and various other platforms. The first game was an adaptation of the film and the sequel, Rise of the Underminer, was essentially a sequel to the film that released a year after the movie hit theaters. It’s likely WB will probably recreate the first Incredibles film as well as sequences from The Incredibles 2 to feel like a complete package but this is all speculation.
A previous leak suggested that a wave of Incredibles 2 Lego toy sets and an unspecified video game would hit in May 2018, a month before the release of the film. If this holds true, we could be getting some hands-on time with Lego Incredibles 2 a few weeks before we see the movie.
Furthermore, WB is continuing their Lego DC expansion with Lego DC villains. Details are also scarce for this one but is said to feature Joker, Lex Luthor, and Harley Quinn. Previous DC Lego titles have been centered around Batman and the Justice League but it looks like we may see the other side of the coin after three DC games and get to play as the bad guys for a change. The rumor suggests that the game is due out in the next year and could come as soon as the end of 2018 since WB and developer TT Games tend to release two Lego games a year.
The Incredibles 2 will hit theaters on June 15th, 2018.
