A recent rumor has surfaced that Marvel's line of Netflix shows may be expanding past the upcoming Defenders series with a line of Marvel Knights programs.
Netflix has found a great deal of success in its latest line-up of Marvel shows featured on the streaming service with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the highly anticipated Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and the ensemble team-up show, The Defenders. Recently, possible news has been circulating that Marvel Studios has secured the rights to the titles Blade, Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight to be produced as new, rated-R content series'. The choices for these titles specifically hearken back to Marvel's 1998 run known as Marvel Knights, which has featured these characters, as well as others such as Namor, Cloak & Dagger, and Black Panther.
So far, the only incarnations we've had of these characters has been the 90's Blade trilogy starring Wesley Snipes, as well as the short-lived Spike TV series starring rapper Sticky Fingaz, and the Nicholas Cage set of Ghost Rider movies. There's still no word on when or even if these shows will come to pass, but the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks promising with its willingness to expand the brand so diversely.
