A rumor for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has suggested how many characters will be available in the game at launch, as well as the notable characters that will be missing from the game.
If the rumor is accurate, then Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will feature 28 on its base roster at launch, with six characters joining the game as DLC later on (ultimately 34 characters will be available, 28 at launch and six DLC). Comparatively, Marvel vs Capcom 3 featured 36 characters at launch plus two DLC characters.
Unfortunately, it was noted who wouldn't be in the game. According to the rumor, there will be no X-Men or Fantastic Four (which goes against the X-Men/Fantastic 4 rumor and support an earlier rumor) characters, nor will there be Okami or Ace Attorney – as well as some others.
Here's the rumor, as per SaikyoBro's wording:
- 28 character launch roster, I know all of them but 1 for sure and I think I might know who the last one is.
- No Ace Attorney, Viewtiful Joe, Final Fight or Okami characters. No Ms. Marvel, no X-Men or F4 to speak of.
- Of the remaining cast the, e's one returning MvC2 character, nine characters coming back from 3 (ten if the last character is who I think it is) and only four more newcomers.
- I know of one DLC character besides Sigma and he's coming back from MvC2, not sure if he's scheduled for this year or next year.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is set to release September 19th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
