Rumor: A Metal Gear Solid collection may be coming to PS4 (DEBUNKED)

UPDATE: Amature has said in a statement to Dualshockers that the listing was indeed a typo and nothing more.

“Unfortunately, this was simply a typo by one of our web developers and is neither a leak nor indication that the MGS HD collection is coming to PS4.  Or that Armature is working on any new MGS games.”

You can read the original story below.

There is only one console that people can experience the entire Metal Gear Solid story on and that is the PlayStation 3 but soon that could change if a new rumor is to be believed!

Long before the Konami/Kojima fallout that happened during the production of Metal Gear Solid V, Konami published an HD collection for Metal Gear Solid which included Metal Gear Solid 2, 3, and Peace Walker on Xbox 360 PS3, and PlayStation Vita. Fans could also purchase the original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Metal Gear Solid V a la carte if they owned a PlayStation 3.

The collection was well received and was a great way for longtime fans and a new generation of players to experience the story of Solid Snake/Big Boss. With so many developers releasing remasters and collections of both massive franchises and smaller ones, it’s left people scratching their head at Konami as to why they haven’t put the HD Collection on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, or even PC!

A new listing on the website for developer Armature, who ported the games onto PlayStation Vita, indicates that the HD collection is coming to PS4. Some shrugged off the listing as a typo meant to say PS3 but Amature didn’t make the PS3, Bluepoint did. Plus, it would be odd for Amature to be editing a years old page for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for no reason!

As of right now, you should probably take it with a grain of salt because it really could have been a genuine mistake but hopefully, an announcement is on the way. The only disappointing thing would be if this was true is that the HD Collection doesn’t include Metal Gear Solid 4 so the game would still be stuck exclusively on PS3 unless they add it in for the PS4 remaster.

We’ll continue to keep you updated if the story develops.
