An insider source from the video game industry, who has tipped-off rumors that proved to be true in the past, is claiming that Microsoft is in talks with Konami to buy Silent Hills. The source went on to say that Microsoft is hoping to have the deal wrapped up by E3 2015 comes around, so they can reveal it at the big show.
It is important to note that the rumor that this anonymous source was correct about previously, was that the Xbox One was going to get a Kinect-less SKU. While Microsoft was always on the offensive, saying that the Xbox One can't exist without the Kinect, it still could have been a very good educated guess.
If Microsoft purchases Silent Hills from Konami it will release in March of 2016 and will be exclusive to the Xbox One. Silent Hills is said to be 80% done with development, making it easier for Microsoft to finish off and release it.
Konami has iterated that they are pushing forward with mobile development, but won't be abandoning consoles. With this thought in mind, it is interesting to see this rumor floating about — on the other hand if the game is mostly done and was too costly to develope, it's not hard seeing Konami looking to hand it off. The Silent Hills P.T. Demo was removed from the PlayStation Store on April 29th, days after the game was announced to be canceled by Konami.
If Microsoft does get their hands on the game, we have to hope that they bring Guillermo del Toro back on board, along with Hideo Kojima!
