Rumor: Mother 3 will coming to Nintendo Switch via Virtual Console

Laura Kate Dale is just full of fun Nintendo rumors, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that she is right a great deal of the time. One of her latest rumors concerns a Nintendo Switch Virtual Console port of Mother 3, AKA Earthbound 2, a Game Boy Advance game that released in Japan in 2006. According to one of her latest tweets, the game will be announced for the Nintendo Switch's Virtual Console at the upcoming press event on January 13th.

Here's the tweet:

Sadly, Mother 3 never released outside of Japan. Instead, a group of fans at Starmen.net released a fan translation patch that translated the text into English when applied to a copy of the game's ROM image. These fans later offered the translation to Nintendo completely free of charge, but nothing ever came of it.

This rumor doesn't specify if Mother 3 will have a translation or not or whether this virtual console release is Japan only, but you'd have to think that if she saw fit to report it, there's at least a decent chance that fans around the world might finally be able to play the game.
