Rumor: Next Mad Max movie won’t focus on Max, it will be about Furiosa

It's not a Mad Max movie without Max...

Back in May 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller revealed the title of the second film in the rebooted series starring Tom Hardy as Max. According to Miller, the sequel would be titled 'Mad Max: The Wasteland.'

While Hardy was signed on for three Mad Max films, it looks like Charlize Theron will be picking up the lead role in the upcoming Mad Max movie. Rumors are detailing that the next Mad Max movie will be focused on Furiosa, the character played by Theron in Fury Road.

The Herald Sun (via GameSpot) wrote:

"Pre-production is gearing up on the multi-million-dollar action-packed Warner Bros franchise, with NSW’s Broken Hill Studios Miller's first choice for shooting, which could start as soon as later this year.

"Mad Max Fury Road was plagued by delays when extended rain turned the desert green and the uber-director had to move location to Namibia. The [new] script is said to focus on the backstory of Furiosa, played by Oscar-winner Charlize Theron."

Miller hinted at this switch in characters back in January, when he corrected a misquote:

"I said no, [another ‘Mad Max’ movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another ‘Mad Max.’ It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories."

Basically, Miller told us the next movie wouldn't be focused on Max.
