Lots of independent online retailers like to “leak” release dates for highly anticipated games despite rarely knowing the actual release date. The reason being for this is because it brings all sorts of attention to their site and attracts new customers. Most of the time, the date they “leak” is just a random Tuesday somewhere in the developer’s announced release window. However, this Polish retailer may actually have leaked the real Red Dead Redemption 2 release date.
Media Markt, a chain of electronic stores in Poland, listed Red Dead Redemption 2 for an October 3rd, 2017 release date. After being asked for a comment, Media Markt replied with why they changed the date. “I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by distributor of the game that its airing date is 3rd of October 2017”
So it would seem Take-Two or Rockstar has been speaking to companies about the release date for the game, possibly signaling an imminent trailer or announcement. Of course, this could all be a big lie but it’s very interesting that they’d say the information came directly from the game’s distributor.
This news does conflict with another leaked release date that put the game in September 2017, but maybe they’re both fake!
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases sometime this fall on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
