Rumor: Read Dead Redemption, GTA developer has not agreed to backwards compatibility on Xbox One

With the release of the New Xbox One Experience update that released today, backwards compatibility is now live on the Xbox One (along with a bunch of other new features). Microsoft revealed the first set of games that will be available on the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature earlier this week, but promised to announce more AAA games in December.

Unfortunately, there was one developer whose games were missing from the Xbox One's feature – Rockstar Games. We have reached out to Rockstar multiple times looking see if they had any intentions of bringing their past games to the Xbox One and are still waiting on a respons.

Rumor has it that Rockstar has not agreed with Microsoft to allow their games to be backwards compatible for the Xbox One. This means that we won't see games like, Red Dead Redemption, Bully, L.A. Noir, Max Payne 3, GTA San Andreas HD or GTA IV. This might be because Rockstar's games are simply to big and too much of a hassle to make accessible on the Xbox One or that they are working on a number of remasters for the Xbox One – like Red Dead Redemption and Bully. It could even have to do with music licensing, who knows.

Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has made other games under their umbrella available for use in the feature, leaving Rockstar (who is a major developer) one of the few not joining in.
