Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 details leak; To include Battle Royale online mode

Rockstar Games revealed when Red Dead Redemption 2 will be making its official release last week. This week, new details on the game have emerged – but not from the hands of Rockstar.

Trusted Reviews claims to have received alleged development notes for Red Dead Redemption 2, that include a number of gameplay details. The notes cover online gameplay, missions, game mechanics and more.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online:

The alleged development notes for Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) detail that the game will feature ‘Battle Royale’, ‘Revive and Survive’ and ‘Money Grab’ online modes. Details on how the Battle Royale feature will work were not mentioned.

Revive and Survive will have two teams attempting to be the last team standing or the team with the most living players at the end. Downed teammates can be revived, but only in a limited amount of time.

Money Grab will pit two teams against one another in a race to grab a bag of money first and bring it to their base. It is essentially capture the flag, but with a bag of money.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online will feature an open world, like GTA Online, but allegedly with more depth. The notes detailed that NPCs will “decorate storefronts with amenities and pack things away” at night. These storefronts will supply characters with equipment and missions.

Tasks and objectives with reward players with items/in-game currency. GTA Online’s Apartments are expected to make a return in RDR2, except in the form of tents to fit the world. There will also be additional events, like treasure hunts and death matches. Players will be able to mine for gold, fish, herd cattle, and complete weapon challenges.

On top of all that, it is being claimed that there is a companion app in the works for RDR2 Online that will include social elements and a poker minigame.

RDR2 Gameplay:

The alleged notes also included new mechanics for the game, like gambling, a world that changes according to the day and night cycle, and more.

It was noted that the game will be playable in first-person, in both the campaign mode and multiplayer. In addition to this, player choices in the campaign will affect events later on the game. Mission outcomes, objectives, and dialogue will be dependent on player choices.

There will be a wanted meter and player actions will be measured against it.

The game will include vehicles that fit the era, like minecarts, handcarts, and horse-drawn carriages that come in various ways (extra armored, extra fast and more). There’s a suggestion of trains being a fully explorable mode of transport. The documents note that knocking enemies off their horse or injuring them can trigger contextual dialogue that can lead to monetary gain or more information.

The game has been detailed to include Horsemanship challenges, crafting items (via gathering items), and fishing.

Dead Eye is detailed to be making a return with “enhanced abilities” including tracking bounties and detecting which fish and animals are available nearby

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be releasing on October 26th, 2018.
