A week after Capcom revealed that they had big plans for the Resident Evil franchise, we have caught wind of our first rumor on what the "full-scale offensive" from Capcom could be. Capcom has been hard at work on the new third-person shooter — Umbrella Corps, the remastered versions of 0,1,4,5, and 6, plus the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake, but that hasn't been busy enough.
According to a new rumor, Capcom has been hard at work on Resident Evil 7 – an installment in the franchise that will bring the series back its roots. That's not all, the rumor goes on to say that Capcom hired someone who worked on Metal Gear Solid 5 and P.T..
If true, Serkan Toto, a game industry insider that has revealed the plans of a number of Japanese based game studios, has revealed the first bit of information on Resident Evil 7 that we have seen.
"About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it's in development. The entire game will go back to RE's horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate," wrote Toto in a tweet. "They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions."
Whether or not this is true has yet to be confirmed by Capcom, however, Amaro's Linkedin and Twitter account vanished in September of last year.
