If you enjoy the excitement that comes from watching your favorite game companies announce new and unexpected games, then stop reading. Because an anonymous source has allegedly leaked Sony Computer Entertainment's plans for their 2014 E3 media briefing.
The leak comes via DualShockers which cites a source getting information from contacts "within Sony’s worldwide studios" and another "at the BBH New York marketing firm, which works with Sony for part of its promotion."
So what does Sony have planned for the show?
If the information is correct, then viewers can expect to see a three minute trailer for Uncharted on PS4, comprised of "in-engine" footage interspersed with gameplay segments. It's believed a summer 2015 release date will also be shown.
The sources also claim Media Molecule will show off a new title that "will be a landmark title" for Sony's Morpheus virtual reality headset.
God of War 4 is also expected to be teased with a CG trailer that includes "snippets of in-engine footage." The sources acknowledge that it's early to show off the late 2015 game, but that Sony is doing it to partially offset Microsoft's announcement of a new Gears of War that's allegedly happening earlier in the day.
Sony Japan Studios is believed to be showing off two, maybe three, titles including Project Beast, a spiritual successor to Demon Souls; The Last Guardian retooled for PS4; and another title "shrouded in secrecy."
Perhaps the biggest surprise will come at the end of the show when Sony is expected to show a teaser of a sequel to The Last of Us. Naughty Dog has acknowledged that there have been talks about a sequel, but has maintained that they will only make one if there is a story worth telling. Earlier this week, a freelance artist drew some concept art featuring an older Ellie that many believed was a teaser for a sequel. Alas, he revealed it was merely fan art, though some still suspect a sequel is coming.
Other notable mentions for the show include:
- Gran Turismo 6 on PS4 in 1080p 60FPS
- Sony Bend working on Kill Strain for winter 2014
- Wipeout coming to PS4
- Quantic Dream maybe showing off a trailer
- A huge stage demo for Ready At Dawn's The Order: 1886
- Ninja Theory working on a PS4 exclusive, maybe Heavenly Sword
- inFamous: Second Son DLC
- Guerrilla Games "bringing their RPG to E3"
Remember, none of this has been confirmed by Sony and likely won't be until the show actually happens. So until E3 rolls around, treat all of this as rumors — very exciting rumors, but nothing more.
