Towards the end of January, Ben Affleck revealed that he had decided to step down from his role as director for The Batman. According to Affleck, dividing his energy between writing the film, directing and acting in it was too much.
After Affleck stepped down from his role, the script for The Batman saw a rewrite from the writer behind Argo, Chris Terrio. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will be the end of the troubles around The Batman.
According to sources close to the film, as reported by Forbes, there's plenty of work to be done. It was detailed that "the project will undergo substantial changes and possible/probably another full rewrite." It doesn't stop there either, when the film gets a director it will "essentially get a fresh start once a new creative team has been put together."
Sources specify that Matt Reeves, the director behind Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield, is being eyed to direct the film.
The Batman has been shifted to a 2019 release and everything is looking pretty rough. It's unclear if Joe Manganiello will still appear in the film as Deathstroke or if Jared Leto will appear as the Joker in the film.
