[Rumor] The PS4 Topped Sales Numbers for November 2017

The system with no new iteration this year supposedly tops charts.

With the Xbox One X recently released, and the Nintendo Switch just launching earlier in the years, one would expect either console to have topped the sales charts in November. Surprisingly, it looks like the title of champion would instead go to PlayStation 4.

According to Mizuho Securities' latest update, sent to their clients and not the public, PlayStation 4 hit number one, followed by Xbox One, with Nintendo Switch in third. Considering the excitement behind the Nintendo Switch, it's quite the surprise. Also, considering the Xbox One X recently released and the PlayStation 4 Pro was a 2016 product, it's place in first is quite shocking.

The report reads:

"Game hardware (including SNES Classic, etc.) sales volume in the US was up 44% in November (cumulative Apr–Nov FY3/18 sales were up 38%), while software sales were up 2% (down 1%). The PS4 came out top for hardware
sales, with a likely large impact from Black Friday sales. The Xbox One, which launched the new high-spec X console, came in second. Both consoles saw roughly 40% growth YoY.

The Switch saw a large increase in sales volume in comparison to October, but we still sense that trends are slowing down. We do not explicitly forecast monthly sales volumes in each region, but we have the impression that US sales volume for the Switch in November was within expectations. Nintendo's hardware sales tend to see strong trends in December thanks to seasonal demand, and thus we believe that sales will grow MoM in December."

To be fair, PlayStation has released a number of smash hit titles in 2017/Late-2016. With pricing deals happening during the winter holiday, it stops being so surprising, though still unexpected.
