As Rise of the Tomb Raider gears up to be one of the biggest Tomb Raider games yet, the series' reboot is spreading from solely being a video game reboot to being a film series reboot as well. According to rumors the Tomb Raider film series will be rebooted at MGM Studios with Warner Bros. acting as the distributor.
Currently, Evan Daugherty is writing the film script, with Graham King acting acting as producer. Daughtery has been accredited with writing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Divergent, Snow White And The Huntsman, and G.I. Joe 3.
The director for the the film has yet to be decided upon, but rumor have been pointing towards the Tron director Joseph Kosinski. Sources are suggesting that this rumor is false and that the studio is looking for a female director. It's interesting that they are looking for a female director, the series focuses on a strong female woman and I'm sure a director of any gender could show a protagonist off as strong.
I'm much more interested in them having a writer that does the character justice and an actress that looks like she could beat the crap out of someone (or pistol whip them). The actress wouldn't even have to look like Lara Croft, they could 007-Daniel Craig it… Just make it good!
