Rumor: Warner Bros. cancels Suicide Squad game for Damian Wayne Batman game

Batman is one of Warner Bros. most valuable IPs so it would make sense that you'd want to push out as much Batman content as possible, especially after the huge success of Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy. In 2013, Warner Bros. Montreal made a prequel to the popular trilogy while Rocksteady was going to work on the final game in the series. At the end of the game, WB Montreal teased a Suicide Squad game. For years, we've been waiting for this game but the studio hadn't announced anything officially.

It is now coming out that the studio has been working on the game for two years and have canned the game internally. The Suicide Squad game wasn't meeting expectations of WB executives and was taking a lot of time to develop. WB canceled the game and are replacing it with a new Batman game centered around Damian Wayne.

For those unfamiliar, Damian Wayne is the son of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the comics. He's a bit of a rebel but he proves to be a strong character filled with ambition. If this game is set in the Arkham universe, it'll be hard to tackle due to the fact Bruce never had a son in those games and it appeared to be just him and Alfred. There's also that wild ending you have to take into account at the end of Arkham Knight which can be interpreted in a number of ways.

Warner Bros. has yet to officially confirm the Damian Wayne game but we could hear something about it at E3 in 2017.
