For years now, Elder Scrolls fans have been clamoring for the next game in the series following 2006’s Oblivion. With Fallout: New Vegas about to be released, and no new Fallout title expected after that until 2012, they might soon get their wish. But could the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls series be online?
The eagle-eyed writers at SystemLink have spotted a couple of job postings that might hint at what direction the series is going in. Bethesda, they say, is looking for a Quest Designer, while parent company ZeniMax is looking for a Lead Content Designer with “professional experience in developing content for MMOs.” SystemLink speculates that the new hires are going to work on none other than The Elder Scrolls V.
However, their speculation could be nothing more than wishful thinking. Although it appears that Bethesda is hiring someone to work on a RPG, there is no way of knowing if it is for TES or for an entirely new IP. ZeniMax’s MMO project could also be a new IP and totally unrelated to the Bethesda job posting.
You’ve got to admit, though, an Elder Scrolls MMO would probably rock.
As is usually the case with Internet rumors, take it with a giant-sized Morton’s can of salt.
