Rumors crop up of Cable appearing in the Deadpool sequel

We only just got the first official look at Fox’s Deadpool movie and already there’s talk of what will be included in the sequel. Namely, the timelost mutant Nathan Summers aka Cable. This makes total sense given their odd couple buddy team up comic that ran from 2004-2008, Cable and Deadpool. Given Cable’s dour personality and Deadpool’s less than professional one, in the comics the two riff off of each other in a completely unexpected and hilarious way.

Tim Miller told Empire in an interview that he would like to bring Cable into the sequel, but while that seems vague, there’s been a recent rash of Fox employees saying the same thing, pointing more surely towards a cinematic return of the twosome.

Cable’s a complicated character and Fox has a spotty history of bringing beloved mutants to life, but judging from the trailer, Deadpool seems like it’s on a good path, and if anyone has a shot of bringing the militant hardass to life, it’s the team that looks like they might be doing justice to Wade Wilson.

Deadpool releases in theaters February 12, 2016.
