Here he goes again. Outspoken political f*ckbag Rush Limbaugh is making ridiculous claims about liberal plots against the Republican party. It looks like his sights are now set on Christopher Nolan and his choice of using the villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. Rush Limbaugh thinks that using Bane is an attack on Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
On Tuesday, Limbaugh said on his syndicated radio show:
So this evil villain in the new Batman movie is named Bane. And there's discussion out there as to whether or not this was purposeful and whether or not it will influence voters. A lot of people are going to see the movie. And it's a lot of brain-dead people — entertainment, the pop culture crowd — and they're going to hear Bane in the movie and they're going to associate Bain. And the thought is that when they're going to start paying attention to the campaign later in the year and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, not Bain Capital but Romney and Bain, that these people will start thinking back to the Batman movies: 'Oh yea, I know who that is!'
… are you serious? Wait, so let me get this straight. Bane, a character that gained popularity in 1993 with the Batman comic book series Knightfall, is being used to get stupid people who see the movie to hate Mitt Romney… do you have any idea how idiotic that sounds?
The Dark Knight Rises has been in production for two years. So you're telling me that Christopher Nolan wrote his trilogy-ending epic film around a certain villain, who shares the same pronunciation as a company Mitt Romney ran, on the off-chance that in two years Mitt Romney would be the Republican presidential nominee and the movie would cause him to lose? Yea… totally plausible.
Is it just me, or is Rush really reaching here? Maybe every big movie isn't an attack on Republicans. Maybe he's just jealous that Nolan didn't cast him as the Penguin? I don't know. All I know is that Rush Limbaugh sounds like an idiot when he says stuff like this.
And if the people seeing The Dark Knight Rises are brain-dead, do you think they'd be smart enough to make a connection to an investment fund that Romney founded in 1984? Do you think they'd even heard of it? And, even further, do you seriously think people are stupid enough that they'd hear President Obama talking about Bain Capital (a lot of people got laid off while Romney was in charge) and think, 'Oh my god… Bane from Batman'?
Really?
