Russo Brothers to direct Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2

If a new report from Badass Digest is to be believed, than the next two Avengers movies are about to get not one, but two new directors.

According to "a source," which was later confirmed by Hollywood Reporter (from another 'source'), Joe and Anthony Russo have finalized the deal to direct both segments of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. If true, it would mean that the dynamic duo are replacing Joss Whedon who directed the first two Avengers films. It's a sad departure, but if someone were to replace Whedon, there's few better to take over this billion dollar franchise than the Russo brothers.

The Russos are coming off the great success of helming 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and are currently in pre-production on the upcoming sequel Captain America: Civil War, which is slated for release on May 16, 2016. According to the sources, shooting for both Infinity War movies will take place back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.

There are no writers currently attached to the project, though sources suggest that the Russos will reunite with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who penned Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and are collaborating on Civil War.

Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Infinity War – Part 2 are slated to be released on may 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019, respectively.
