Ryan Gosling in talks to star in Guillermo del Toro’s The Haunted Mansion

Looks like Disney is doing The Haunted Mansion the right way

According to The Wrap, Ryan Gosling is close to starring in Disney’s The Haunted Mansion.

The Haunted Mansion, a reboot of the 2003 comedy starring Eddie Murphy that was based on the famous Disney attraction, is being directed and produced by Guillermo del Toro. Unlike the 2003 version, which grossed $180 million worldwide, del Toro’s will not be a comedy. It is pure horror. Del Toro said in 2010, “If you take the children, they will scream.”

And yes, that 2010 is not a typo. The new Haunted Mansion film was revealed by Guillermo del Toro at Comic-Con in July 2010.

As for Gosling, the two participated in a panel at SXSW and were photographed together at Disneyland during Oscar weekend. I know what you’re wondering, and the answer is yes: they did ride the Haunted Mansion. He was also a Mouseketeer early in his career and starred in Disney’s Remember the Titans.

Just imagining Guillermo del Toro’s style merging with the unique look of the Haunted Mansion ride is enough to get excited. Gosling only adds to that. As always, we’ll continue reporting any developments.
