Sakura Wars Pilots its Way onto Web Browers

Rocworks, a Japanese online game maker, announced earlier today that they have acquired the licensing rights to a new browser-based Sakura Wars game from SEGA, bringing tears of joy and hope to those gamers who were eagerly anticipating a new entry into the series.

Its tentative title “Browser Sakura Taisen” is currently being developed by Trinity Game Studio, while the original series creator Red Entertainment (Record of Agarest Wars) works on doing the artwork and original planning. Rocworks will manage the game’s operation, and has stated that the game will feature the most appealing aspects of the series….which is girls, and lots of them.

Through focusing the title online rather than on a console, Rocworks hopes to broaden the series’ appeal by reaching Sakura Wars fans, online game fans and perhaps new players as well. Although no details have been revealed as of now, including whether or not the game has a chance of making it to English browsers, Rocworks has opened up the game’s teaser site for all to enjoy.
