Even though Samsung's VR solution has already been released to the masses, its price may have been a little steep, especially for the average consumer. Asking people to fork over $199 for VR that's meant for your phone was, after all, a little absurd. Today, during the Oculus Connect 2 event in LA, Samsung announced a new, slightly sleeker version of their Gear VR, and at a much more affordable price.
The Gear VR will be competitively priced at $99, and will work on any new Galaxy smartphones. It's set to come out sometime in November in the US, and then a little later worldwide.
If you've been itching to give this new VR craze a chance, and perhaps didn't want to fork over the crazy prices that the Oculus or PlayStation VR might be fetching, this might be the perfect entry point for those curious enough.
