Samus shows some skin with alternate Super Smash Bros. outfits

The Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. are getting alternate costumes that'll likely make many of the game's male fans very happy. In a post on Miiverse, game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed some alternate skins for Metroid's Zero Suit Samus.

"Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this… That's what I told my staff," Sakurai said of the new costumes. "But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here's Samus in shorts!"

As you can see, the outfits are a bit more revealing, though the argument could be made that they are less provocative then the skin tight suit we're used to seeing her in. It's basically some shorty shorts that show off a good amount of leg, and a bikini top. Think of it like Samus cosplaying as a Wii Fit character.

For fans of the Metroid series, these costumes might ring a bell. As Sakurai explained, the two outfits are based on the potential endings of Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission, if you beat the games under a specific time and item conditions. Sakurai added that both outfit variations are available for the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game.
